After Module I on the ground and the application of oil varnish, this second module completes the process by tackling the finishing and more specifically the patina. Properly carried out, the patina will give another dimension to the most aesthetic part of the instrument.
The process, based on an empirical approach, covers all the techniques available in specific sequences that interact to produce an aesthetically pleasing result.
Varnish cooking will also be covered. The steps in the process, which are very useful for making future homemade varnishes, will be explained: the resin, oil washing, temperature choices, fluorescence, utensils and siccatives used in the preparation of oil varnishes.
